At CARIA Orthopaedics & Rehabilitaion;

We support our patients to have non-surgical treatment as far as possible. Assoc. Prof Dr. Cem Yalın KILINÇ carefully applies the intra-articular injection methods for joint disorders listed below such as osteoarthritis. Personalized treatments are supported by exercise programs. We plan the most appropriate treatment according to the business life and lifestyle of our patients.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

  • Studies have shown that the rehabilitation program applied after PRP treatment reduces pain, increases function and plays an important role in muscle strength in patients with knee osteoarthritis.
  • PRP contains high concentrations of platelets and a large number of cell growth factors obtained from the person's own blood plasma. This application stimulates synovial cell proliferation and transformation and regulates the cartilage structure.

VISCOSUPLEMENT INJECTION

  • Viscosupplementation injections containing hyaluronic acid (HA), chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine are frequently used for arthritis and joint pain.
  • HA, the main component of cartilage and synovial fluid, is a long chain of polysaccharides (glycosaminoglycans) with hydrophilicity that confers viscoelastic properties underlying the mechanical properties of cartilage (shock absorption) and synovial fluid (joint lubrication, cartilage protection).

STEM CELL THERAPY

  • The stem cell is the name given to undifferentiated cells that can continue to divide for a very long time in the body of a living being, renew themselves and thus form differentiated cells.
  • Positive changes are seen in the level of function, pain and quality of life in patients who have applied stem cell therapy together with physiotherapy.
  • Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) are adult stem cells found in various tissues of the body. For example, they can be found in bone marrow, adipose tissue, peripheral blood, skeletal muscle, heart, and umbilical cord.
  • Mesenchymal stem cells are used to repair damaged cartilage.
  • Treatment with stem cells taken from the abdominal or hip region can be applied. (adipose tissue and iliac crest) as well.

STEROID INJECTION

  • Intra-articular corticosteroid injections are used to reduce local inflammation (swelling) and pain.
  • The injection is made into the joint by a specialist doctor. Long-term positive results are obtained in patients by supporting the patient with physiotherapy after the injection.
